Description

Delicious soft Snickerdoodle cookies rolled in cinnamon sugar, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (176°C). Line a couple of baking sheets with parchment paper so the cookies bake evenly and release easily.
  2. In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. This base gives Snickerdoodles their signature tang and lift.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy—about 2 to 3 minutes. This step creates the cookie’s soft structure.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract. Your dough should now be soft and smooth.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, mixing until fully incorporated. The dough should be soft but not sticky.
  6. In a small bowl, stir together the cinnamon and sugar. Scoop dough into 1 1/2 tablespoon-sized balls, then roll each one in the cinnamon sugar mix until fully coated.
  7. Place cookie dough balls a few inches apart on the prepared baking sheets. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are just set and the centers look slightly underbaked. They’ll firm up as they cool.
  8. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. They’ll be soft, chewy, and packed with cinnamon flavor.

Notes

  • Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
  • For extra flavor, consider adding nuts or chocolate chips to the dough.
